Mount Holly

About Mount Holly

Located on the east side of Gaston County, North Carolina along the Catawba River is Mount Holly. Visitors can find this old mill town and fun things to do, by traveling north along Hwy 273 off of exit 27 on I-85.

Mount Holly, known as “The Little City with the Big Heart”, is a vibrant community within the Metro area of Charlotte, Gastonia and Rock Hill. Bordered to the east by the Catawba River and Mountain Island Lake, and to the south by the major roadway of I-85, Mount Holly offers visitors the charm of a small southern town. The city of Mount Holly and the local community are committed to preserving the natural beauty of the Catawba River and Mountain Island Lake and its surrounding open spaces, while still making it accessible for recreational use. Mount Holly is a high-growth area, with new bistros and coffee shops in its historic downtown and old mills converting to condos.

The town center of Mount Holly is quaint traditional, and southern in style.  Small historic, Craftsman style bungalows and Colonials surround the tree-lined areas around main street.  Newer developments, like Stonewater, offer waterfront mansions on Mountain Island Lake.  Farther out from the town center, new home subdivisons are plentiful, as well as smaller brick ranch homes with large land lots.
