About Harrisburg
Originally a railroad depot town in the mid 1800’s, Harrisburg maintains its rural heritage. The town is located in the Southwest corner of Cabarrus County, bordering Mecklenburg County. Harrisburg’s close neighbors include NASCAR’s Charlotte Motor Speedway, the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and Concord Mills shopping center.Harrisburg’s growth has increased over the past 5 years due to the proximity to the I-485 loop around Charlotte. The increase access to the area combined with lots of open land have made an ideal combination for subdivisions of all sizes and price ranges.
Harrisburg is served by volunteers for its Rescue Squad and Fire Department, and contracts with the Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Department for full-time police protection. A newly-built industrial park and the availability of land in this area is slowly-but-surely attracting business and homebuyers.
