About Rock Hill
One of the largest cities in the state, Rock Hill has maintained much of its historical character. Downtown renovations have preserved architectural detail in creating the Center for the Arts, the Telephone Museum, and City Hall complex. Art galleries are featured at Winthrop University, at City Hall, and at Piedmont Medical Center. Rock Hill is the largest city in York County, South Carolina, and a satellite city of Charlotte, North Carolina. The population was 49,765 at the 2000 census. According to 2007 estimates, the city has a population of 64,858, making it the fourth largest city in South Carolina. 2010 estimates put the estimated population at 72,567. The city is included in the Charlotte-Gastonia-Concord metropolitan statistical area, which has a population of 1,521,278 according to the 2005 estimate by the U.S. Census Bureau.Rock Hill is conveintly located near Carowinds Theme Park.
