About Indian Land

Indian Land is located along Hwy 521 in the northern portion of Lancaster County, South Carolina, near the border of North Carolina. Indian Land also lies east of the fast-growing area of Fort Mill, SC. Ten years ago, Indian land was mainly a sleepy rural community with lots of farmland and rolling pastures. However, the development of nearby Ballantyne in Southern Mecklenburg County has drawn significant attention to this area because of its affordable land and proximity to Charlotte.

The addition of a Publix Grocery Chain across from Indian Land High School, Lowe’s Home Improvement, and a Walmart Superstore next to the NC & SC state line have attracted a new surge 

Successful new home communities in the Indian Land area include: BridgeMill, Chastain, Legacy Park, and Bretagne, a high-end European themed development with multi-million dollar homes. Del Webb has developed Sun City Carolina Lakes, a resort-style active adult retirement community that has also flourished in this area.
